*!! मुठ्ठी भर मेंढ़क !!*  *बहुत समय पहले की बात है, किसी गाँव में मोहन नाम का एक किसान रहता था। वह बड़ा मेहनती और ईमानदार था. अपने अच्छे व्यवहार के कारण दूर-दूर तक लोग उसे जानते थे और उसकी प्रशंशा करते थे। पर एक दिन जब देर शाम वह खेतों से काम कर लौट रहा था तभी रास्ते में उसने कुछ लोगों को बाते करते सुना, वे उसी के बारे में बात कर रहे थे।* *मोहन अपनी प्रशंशा सुनने के लिए उन्हें बिना बताये धीरे-धीरे उनके पीछे चलने लगा, पर उसने उनकी बात सुनी तो पाया कि वे उसकी बुराई कर रहे थे। कोई कह रहा था कि, “मोहन घमण्डी है.” तो कोई कह रहा था कि, “सब जानते हैं वो अच्छा होने का दिखावा करता ह।” *मोहन ने इससे पहले सिर्फ अपनी प्रशंशा सुनी थी। पर इस घटना का उसके दिमाग पर बहुत बुरा असर पड़ा और अब वह जब भी कुछ लोगों को बाते करते देखता तो उसे लगता वे उसकी बुराई कर रहे हैं। यहाँ तक कि अगर कोई उसकी तारीफ़ करता तो भी उसे लगता कि उसका मजाक उड़ाया जा रहा है। धीरे-धीरे सभी ये महसूस करने लगे कि मोहन बदल गया है और उसकी पत्नी भी अपने पति के व्यवहार में आये बदलाव से दु:खी रहने लगी और एक दिन उसने पूछा, “आज-कल आप इतने परे...

 पुरानी साड़ियों के बदले बर्तनों के लिए मोल भाव करती एक सम्पन्न घर की महिला ने अंततः दो साड़ियों के बदले एक टब पसंद किया।* *"नहीं दीदी ! बदले में तीन साड़ियों से कम तो नही लूँगा। " बर्तन वाले ने टब को वापस अपने हाथ में लेते हुए कहा।* *अरे भैया ! एक एक बार की पहनी हुई तो हैं.. ! बिल्कुल नये जैसी। एक टब के बदले में तो ये दो भी ज्यादा हैं , मैं तो फिर भी दे रही हूँ।*  *नहीं , तीन से कम में तो नहीं हो पायेगा ." वह फिर बोला।* *एक दूसरे को अपनी पसंद के सौदे पर मनाने की इस प्रक्रिया के दौरान गृह स्वामिनी को घर के खुले दरवाजे पर देखकर सहसा गली से गुजरती अर्द्ध विक्षिप्त महिला ने वहाँ आकर खाना माँगा।* *आदतन हिकारत से उठी महिला की नजरें उस महिला के कपडों पर गयी। अलग अलग कतरनों को गाँठ बाँध कर बनायी गयी उसकी साड़ी उसके युवा शरीर को ढँकने का असफल प्रयास कर रही थी।*  *एकबारगी उस महिला ने मुँह बिचकाया। पर सुबह सुबह का याचक है सोचकर अंदर से रात की बची रोटियाँ मँगवायी। उसे रोटी देकर पलटते हुए उसने बर्तन वाले से फिर कहा -* *तो भैय्या ! क्या सोचा ? दो साड़ियों में दे रहे हो या मैं वापस रख...
